Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated Ram Mandir station. The first train to arrive was a Churchgate-bound slow local at 6 pm, while the first train departing was a Churchgate-bound fast local at 6:10 pm.

In March 2018, the Harbour line was extended from Goregaon to Ram Mandir. Now the station caters to both Western Line and Harbour Line suburban trains.
